Workshop Description
Great group classes don’t happen by chance. They are carefully designed to strike a balance between the quality of movement, the level of challenge and the client experience. In this interactive two-hour workshop, Pilates instructors will learn the essential elements of effective class programming through the lens of alignment, load and tempo.
Participants will explore how these three variables influence movement outcomes, client safety, progression and class flow. Learn how to select and sequence exercises that maintain biomechanical integrity, apply appropriate loading strategies for diverse populations, and use tempo intentionally to create specific training adaptations and engaging class experiences.
Through practical examples and programming frameworks, instructors will acquire the tools to design dynamic, purposeful classes that meet the needs of mixed-ability groups whilst maximising efficiency, results and client retention.
Whether you teach mat, Reformer or apparatus-based classes, this workshop will help you gain confidence in your programme planning and improve the quality and consistency of every group session you lead.
Raising the Bar: Standardising Pilates Methodology and Advancing Practitioners’ Knowledge
Workshop Description
As the Pilates profession evolves, higher standards and a clearer professional identity are essential. This interactive two-hour workshop explores how practitioners can move beyond fitness instruction to become recognised movement specialists.
We will begin by establishing a robust framework for professional definitions and descriptors of the Pilates Method. This involves upholding the foundational methodology developed by Joseph and Clara Pilates, whilst clearly categorising the modern systems of Pilates, its comprehensive repertoire and specialised apparatus.
Participants will explore the fundamentals of the Pilates Method, including its origins, modern approaches, repertoire and equipment. The workshop also emphasises the importance of broadening one’s knowledge of movement science, understanding pathology and applying evidence-based practice.
